Antibiotic Card Game
A game where you choose and administer the right antibiotic for five patients.
15 turns (45 days), and cure as many as you can.
- Play a card on a patient
Drag and drop a card from your hand onto a patient card (on mobile, tap the card, then tap the patient)
- You don't know the pathogen at first
"Gram Stain" reveals the bacterial class, "Susceptibility Test" reveals which drugs work, and "PCR" reveals the pathogen's name.
Even without ordering a test, the culture identifies the pathogen automatically after 4 turns
- Effectiveness = Susceptibility × Tissue Penetration
Even with the right spectrum, a drug that can't reach that organ won't work.
Hover a card and the patients on the board are color-coded by how well it works
- Broader-spectrum antibiotics carry higher "Resistance Points (RP)"
The more you use them, the more resistance builds up on the ward, breeding resistant organisms and making drugs unusable.
Choosing a narrow drug that still works earns a higher score
- Delayed treatment leads to deterioration and death
An ICU card can halt deterioration for one turn
Susceptibility rates are based on JANIS 2024 (Japan Nosocomial Infections Surveillance), so they reflect Japanese epidemiology. Tissue penetration is based on pharmacokinetic review articles.
